American Airlines has announced an expansion in its network into Canada, with a 'codesharing' arrangement with Canadian carrier Porter Airlines.
It means passengers can book 'one ticket' options across the two airlines respective routes, from today.
Joint-itinerary flights can be booked via aa.com, the American mobile app, and flyporter.com.
Flights are initially available from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) into Canadian cities like Edmonton, Halifax, Ottawa, Victoria and Winnipeg, and will be expanded to include Calgary, Charlottetown, Kelowna, St. John’s, Saskatoon and Vancouver coming in the coming weeks.
Passengers booking via Porter will initially be able to access American Airlines flights through Charlotte, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas–Fort Worth and Philadelphia, expanding next to also include Honolulu, Nashville, New Orleans, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and San Jose.
“This partnership puts customers at the forefront, and we look forward to providing even more seamless transborder travel options together," said Anmol Bhargava, American Airlines senior vice president of global alliances.
"Canada is one of the most popular destinations for travelers, and American is excited to partner with Porter Airlines to unlock more travel options for customers.”
Passengers on loyalty programs, via AAdvantage, will be able to earn miles and Loyalty Points on flights operated by Porter, and it is expected that further alignment of loyalty programs will follow in the future.
