American Airlines kicks off the countdown to its 100th birthday

American Airlines has launched the countdown to its centennial year, 2026.

With 100 days to go until the start of its 100th year, the airline has unveiled a special brand logo, featuring an infinity symbol, that will mark the company throughout 2026.

It has also showcased a new 'anthem' video that tells the story of American Airlines chartered from its orgins as a mail plane operation in the 1920's through its 10 decades of growth, expansion and innovation.

Among a number of industry firsts, American highlights that it was the first airline to create a preflight airport passenger lounge and the first to create a loyalty program.

“American is proud to be an airline known for its legacy of firsts,” said Robert Isom, American Airlines CEO.

“As we get ready for our centennial, we celebrate the strong history of our iconic airline and brand while knowing we’ve built an airline that will continue to move our customers and company forward for the next 100 years.”
