American Airlines has announced it is upgrading the passenger experience across its regional operations to better match its 'mainline' flights.
The airline said it would be a phased upgrade, and, would include refreshed interiors, fast Wi-Fi and in-seat power charging - plus, AAdvantage members will be able to access complimentary Wi-Fi from January.
“Our customers value staying connected in the air, even on a relatively short flight,” said Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer.
Meanwhile, the seats are being upgraded to give passengers both space and comfort. And, American added that it will serve up snack baskets to premium-cabin customers, and AAdvantage members can redeem miles for in-flight purchases on all flights.
The upgraded cabin experience is being launched alongside the arrival of new Embraer 175 and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft for the regional network, though America also revealed it plans to retrofit its CRJ700, CRJ900, E170 and E175 aircraft over the coming years, too.
For guests, the proposed changes will mean that short hops and regional connections will feel more like their 'mainline' longer haul journeys, whilst they're also promised reliable Wi-Fi, charging for devices, snacks and more space - all of which will be welcome news for families and frequent flyers.
