Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris (probably the best version of Big Thunder) is back up and running.
The 'wildest ride' in Paris reopened on Saturday 21 June, after the past several months undergoing a refresh and a face lift.
Multiple teams - Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, Design & Delivery, Maintenance and the Central Workshops - all worked together on the project to upgrade and restore Big Thunder Mountain.
Paris’s signature runaway train is ready to send thrill-seekers careening through the heart of Frontierland once again.
What’s new?
Every twist and turn of the track has been given close attention.
Sections of tunnel and rail were completely replaced to guarantee a smooth, safe ride for years to come.
The queue area and the station also got a bit more than a spit-n-polish.

Meanwhile, the mountain’s iconic façade received a fresh coat of paint, and the mountain itself was cleaned aloft by drones.
Inside the ride, water, visual and sound effects have all been reworked or restored.

Restoring the gold-rush spirit
Its not just the infrastructure that got a makeover.
The ride's meticulous scenery was dismantled, cleaned, repainted and given an authentic patina, before being carefully reassembled on-site.

Even the ride’s animal companions got in on the action. Mules, opossums, bats and the beloved mountain goat were restored and repainted.
Guests heading to Disneyland Paris this weekend and the coming weeks will be among the first to experience the “wildest ride in the wilderness” all over again.
