Delta Airlines has announced big new additions to its in-flight entertainment, bringing onboard select videos from YouTubers including Mr Beast, Nick DiGiovanni, Kinigra Deon, and Michelle Khare.
The YouTube content - over 300 curated videos, podcasts and YouTube Music playlists - will be incorporated into the airline's seatback screens, as well as via personal devices connected to Delta's 'fast, free' Sync Wi-Fi starting in October.
For younger passengers, it is also uploading nursery rhymes and preschool favorite Mother Goose Club.
More mature passengers, meanwhile, can lock into absorbing podcasts from New York Times best-selling author and award-winning podcast host Mel Robbins.
At the same time, Delta's premium passengers and SkyMiles members, via the in-flight wi-fi internet, will also be able to access a complimentary version of YouTube Premium for their own ad-free enjoyment of broader YouTube content during their flights.
“This partnership was born from a simple but powerful insight: our customers love YouTube,” said Julieta McCurry, Delta's vice president for in-flight entertainment and connectivity.
“As two leaders in our respective spaces, each with a legacy of innovation and a deep commitment to serving as agents of human connection, Delta and YouTube are uniquely positioned to deliver an unmatched customer experience – one that meets you where you are and helps you discover more of your world.”
Miguel Quiroga, YouTube vice president of product partnerships, added: "Whether it’s on TVs, phones, or now seatback screens, there’s so many ways to experience YouTube’s top creators, culture-defining podcasts, and fan-favorite music content."
Delta said that around 930 of its aircraft were enabled for the Delta Sync Wi-Fi service, and that would represent some 165,000 'seatback' screens.
