Holland America's 2026 Solar Eclipse cruises promise unique spectacle

Holland America Line has plans to give guests a unique spectacle next August, with three solar eclipse cruises.

The itineraries will provide a spectacular ocean view of next summer's eclipse in the Northern Hemisphere.

'Voyage of the Vikings', a 35-day cruise aboard the Zuiderdam ship, will be in Icelandic waters for the eclipse's expected 'totality'. Overall, it is a round-trip departing from Boston, with calls in Maine, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

The 'Mediterranean Solar Eclipse' itinerary, 13 days aboard Oosterdam, will in be in Spanish waters at the 'totality' moment. This cruise visits Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Montenegro and Greece.

Holland America's third special itinerary is the 'Legendary Solar Eclipse' will also be in Iceland for the totality. This is a 28-day voyage, a round-trip from Dover, England, on the Nieuw Statendam vessel, calling in the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and Scotland.

As well as the spectacular skies, the eclipse cruises will also host exclusive lectures, Q&A sessions with especially invited guest experts, and hands-on tips to make the most of this rare celestial event.

 "We're offering our guests not only front-row views to a rare phenomenon, but also the opportunity to deepen their understanding in an enriching setting."

Whether tracing Viking routes, exploring Mediterranean ports, or sailing past Greenland’s glaciers, these unique celestial voyages promise a blend of sightseeing and stargazing for curious minds.
