Is there a theme park resort with more themed rooms than Alton Towers Hotel?

Ask ten people which is the 'top' English theme park, and most will say Alton Towers. One not-so-insignificant factor is the resort-esque approach to on-site accommodations, which is surprisingly rare in the UK.

The Alton Towers Hotel - one of five accommodation options at the theme park - is fun, full of character, and packed with themed rooms that turn a sleepover into part of the adventure.

For couples, there are cosy, design-led options with a lake view; for families, there are rooms that lean all-in on “wow” factor (submarine bunks and chocolate stashes, for example).

The Alton Towers Hotel vibe

The on-site hotel for the UK’s top-rated theme park offers a surprisingly broad set of room categories—there’s genuinely something for most group sizes and tastes, from sugar-rush family themes to low-key couples’ retreats.

If staying in the park bubble appeals, and you want your room to feel like part of the story rather than a functional base, this is where to look first.

There are so many themed room choices at Alton Towers Hotel, here, we take a closer look at them all.

Chocolate Rooms (sleeps up to 6)

For sweet-toothed guests, these Cadbury-themed rooms deliver pure novelty: a hidden stash of treats, a handy mini-fridge, and bright, playful brand styling.

Sleeping arrangements include a double bed plus bunks, along with an en-suite and complimentary toiletries.

This theme is a popular choice, and for chocolate lovers it is satisfying for the whole family.

Coca-Cola Rooms (sleeps up to 6)

Think signature red decor and a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary soft drinks - as well as other branded snacks for good measure.

Like the Chocolate Rooms, these sleep up to six guests, with a mix of double beds and bunks.

If your party loves a bold decor, doesn't mind a sugar rush (or a snack-branded bedroom) this one’s a crowd-pleaser.

Sleepover Rooms (sleeps up to 6)

Designed for “the ultimate sleepover party,” these rooms are built around fun touches kids clock instantly: a make-up area, a games console, and those same Pringles-and-Coke perks.

The room layout and sleeping arrangements are similar to Coca-Cola and Chocolate rooms.

If your plan is theme park by day, giggles and chill by night, you should probably start here.

Explorer Rooms (sleeps 3–5)

The Explorer rooms are among the most abundant of the hotel's themed rooms, and, whilst a little smaller than the ones we've looked at so far, they're spacious for most families.

Explorer rooms carry a lot of creative theming and narrative, all tied to the park’s resident adventurer, Sir Algenon.

There are multiple variants of the theming taking guests into immersive larger-than-life stories, including Arctic expeditions and lunar voyages.

As fun and engaging as they are, these rooms are still comfy and functionally practical - in other words, they’re story-rich without being overbearing.

Gangsta Granny Rooms (sleeps up to 5)

A massive hit for guests of all ages who love the writing of David Walliams.

Inspired by the Little Britain comedian's fourth novel, the Gangsta Granny make it easy for big imaginations to bring the book to life.

The sleeping arrangements include a double, bunks, plus a pull-out, so slightly larger families and groups can squeeze in an extra little one without booking extra rooms.

A lovely additional touch for these rooms, is that each stay comes with a copy of the David Walliams book for every child, and the Gangsta Granny movie is pre-loaded on the TV.

Splish Splash Rooms (sleeps up to 6)

One of the most distinctive themes on the Alton Towers property is the Splish Splash rooms, which lean into a whimsical, water-world theming, including submarine-style bunks and a king-size bed, and the benefit of a whirlpool bath.

For families who want “oh wow” moments - and adults who want (or perhaps need) a long relaxing soak at the end of busy park days.

Dreamy Den Room

The Dreamy Den is styled in soft pastels and enjoys a lake view. These rooms are comfortable and cater more to couples, rather than families with the kids in tow.

Guests enjoy a double bed, complimentary prosecco on arrival, a quieter spot within the hotel. It’s a popular call for couples who want to do the park but wind down somewhere grown-up.

Arabian Nights (sleeps 2)

For theme-park loving couples, this is a whole new wo—— ... sorry, wrong resort and wrong IP, isn't it ...

These themed-up and luxurious rooms are designed to give guests a romantic hideaway, whilst staying in the vicinity of the UK's top-rated theme park.

These rooms are complete with a whirlpool bath, in a marble bathroom, and, are described as perfect for Honeymooners. Guests can also enjoy lake views and complimentary prosecco and chocolates.

Princess Rooms (sleeps 4)

Super pink and fit for a princess, these rooms come with a dressing table, a special fairytale carriage-themed bed for kids, as well as a large bed for adults.

Big Pyjama Room (sleeps up to 6)

The theming of these rooms is iconic and classic, guests love these fun immersive rooms. Sleeping up to six, these room as spacious and comfy enough, you may not fancy coming down the stairs ...

Over the bed is a large and impressive 'hot air balloon', which is quite the centrepiece. Meanwhile, guests can enjot complimentary chocolates that come with the room.

The Smiler Room (sleeps up to 4)

Neither chill, nor romantic, the Smiler Rooms are an homage to Alton Towers most thrilling coaster.

Whilst you can see the appeal to hardcore theme park fans, the decor in this love letter to Alton Towers’ intense 14-inversion coaster isn't for everyone. Replicating the yellow, black-and-white stripe motif of the Smiler, the hotel rooms are every bit as quirky.

In terms of layout, the room has a double bed and bunks, plus all the other typical amenities in-common with the other room types.
