Jet2 extends 'free flights' for under 2s

Nothing beats ... free flights for all babies and toddlers.

British package holiday operator and budget airline Jet2 has announced a new promotion designed to make travelling with babies and toddlers a little less daunting.

Jet2 said in a statement that children under two years old now fly for free on all new seat-only bookings - extending its previous offer, which applied only to guests on package bookings.

It takes effect for bookings made from Friday, August 22, covering flights to destinations across Europe, the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean.

The company said it is now the only UK carrier not to charge a fee for under-2s.

Jet2.com also updated its infant and child equipment policy with immediate effect, so that customers will no longer be charged excess baggage for child or infant equipment checked into the hold.

Families can bring up to two items per child under two (such as a collapsible pushchair, pram or buggy, car seat or booster, baby carrier, or travel cot) for free, and a prior 10kg weight cap for these items no longer applies.

An additional 10kg baggage allowance for children under two, meanwhile, also remainss in place.

“As a family friendly airline and tour operator, we are always looking at how we can make the experience even better for families travelling with us," said Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy.

"We are making travel even more accessible for millions of families.”
