MSC is adding Texas flavor as Seascape heads to Galveston

MSC Cruises is bringing a taste of Texas onboard its MSC Seascape ship this winter season, as it debuts a program of seven-night Western Caribbean sailings out of Galveston.

Seascape will operate from the Texan port year-round, starting Sunday, 9 November.

Ahead of that, the cruise brand has now previewed a number of regionally inspired dishes and drinks, which it plans to serve up to guests alongside its familiar Mediterranean favourites.

“As we welcome even more guests from Texas and the South on cruises from Galveston, we’re leaning into the region’s uniquely American cuisine," said Josef Jungwirth, MSC vice president for food & beverage operations.

"Our team has traveled the state to gather inspiration for what guests will find onboard."

MSC's menu additions will include Texas comfort foods and Southern staples like roasted Texas-style prime rib, Cajun-spiced pork loin with 'dirty' rice, collard greens, and buttermilk pie.

There will be a 'Texas comfort foods' included at breakfast, including Chicken & Waffles with Maple-Hot Sauce Drizzle, and Tex-Max Taco and Barbacoa options at the omelette station.

Butcher's Cut

Seascape's five specialty dining venues (Kaito Sushi Bar, Kaito Teppanyaki, HOLA! Tacos & Cantina, Ocean Cay Seafood Restaurant and Butcher’s Cut) will also feature new inclusions on their respective menus.

Sailings from Galveston will include complimentary breakfast at HOLA! Tacos & Cantina (huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, chilaquiles), MSC noted, while Butcher’s Cut will open in the mornings for smoothie bowls, steak and eggs and Western omelettes.

Hola Tacos

Bars and lounges will pour Texas- and Southern-inspired sips such as a Spicy Mexican Margarita and Backyard Punch, plus local beers and souvenir boot cups.

And, the ship's Wine Cellar will offer two tasting experiences (for extra charge), including the MSC Bourbon & Bacon Experience, which promises to pair curated bourbon drinks with savoury bacon.

Alternatively, there's also the MSC Macallan Experience, which will explore the iconic whisky brand's heritage and flavour.
