Norwegian Cruise Line's new Aqua ship arrives in Miami for winter sailings

Norwegian Aqua, the NCL cruise ship, has now arrived at its new base in Miami for a winter program of seven-day sailings into the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The cruise schedule runs through April, with itineraries including calls to Puerto Plata, in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and the Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay.

Aqua's arrival in Miami follows the ship’s inaugural Bermuda season, which saw the new NCL ship sailing out of New York.

“We are delighted to welcome Norwegian Aqua to her new homeport in Miami,” said Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO.

"As our newest ship in Miami, now is the perfect time for guests to book their next tropical getaway to the Caribbean and Bahamas for a vacation filled with exhilarating and relaxing onboard activities for the whole family, while visiting beautiful destinations."

Norwegian Aqua boasts headline attractions such as the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster-waterslide, described by NCL as "the longest and fastest slide at sea", The Drop, a 10-storey dry-slide, as well as Glow Court, an LED-floor digital sports venue that transforms into a nightclub, and the Aqua Game Zone, which is armed with VR and arcade classic games.

Aqua's Stadium complex adds even more opportunity for activities, as does the Bull’s Eye Bar for interactive darts.

Elsewhere, with a different pace, is adults-only Vibe Beach Club, Mandara Spa & Salon.

The ship also has an expanded pool deck, 17 restaurants, 18 bars and a show slate that includes “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince,” “Elements: The World Expanded”, and “The Price is Right LIVE.”

Guests embarking on the Caribbean program also have the opportunity to take in Great Stirrup Cay, which is in the process of receiving phased upgrades - with the latest addition, due in late-2025, including a new pier, a 28,000-square-foot heated pool with swim-up bars and a kids’ splash area.

Next summer, NCL plans to unveil a larger, almost six-acre Great Tides Waterpark in summer 2026.
