One major issue otherwise a good stay
We stayed for five nights at the New York Art of Marvel Hotel. On arrival, our first impressions were very positive the hotel felt clean, modern, and pleasantly scented. However, our experience quickly declined once we entered our room. The carpet beside the bed, where our baby’s travel cot was meant to go, was soaking wet. We contacted reception, assuming it had just been cleaned, but staff seemed unsure and said someone would come immediately to address it. While waiting, a strong unpleasant smell developed from the damp area. We also noticed hairs on the bathroom wall, raising further concerns about cleanliness. After two hours with no assistance, we called again and were told someone had already attended. We confirmed this was not the case. By 7:30pm, still no one had come, so we informed reception in person before leaving for dinner. Upon returning, the issue remained unresolved. At 9:30pm, we were told housekeeping had gone home and nothing could be done, and as the hotel was fully booked, we would have to stay in the room. Given our baby is very young and starting to crawl, this situation was unacceptable. Thankfully, family members we were travelling with swapped rooms with us so our baby could sleep safely away from the damp and smell. Aside from this major issue which was never resolved beyond the carpet eventually drying, the rest of the stay was acceptable. The shower pressure was weak, and the pool was closed, so we couldn’t use it. On the positive side, the restaurants were very good, staff were friendly and helpful, and they kindly provided and heated baby food. Breakfast was generally good, though the choice of chicken and veal sausages felt unusual. The bar was enjoyable, with tasty mocktails. Overall, while there were some positives, the unresolved room issue significantly impacted our stay.
