The RIU Guanacaste, on Matapalo Beach in Costa Rica, has reopened its doors following a full refurbishment.
RIU Hotels & Resorts, a TUI brand, announced the completion of the full refurb of the Costa Rican hotel, which first opened in 2009, including the renovation across all guest rooms, dining and outdoor spaces.
Its design is inspired by the Guanacaste's natural surroundings, using materials and colours intended to reflect Costa Rica's biodiversity and culture.
Guest capacity increases significantly with the addition of 300 rooms, bringing the total to 1,041 redesigned and modernised accommodations.

Among the room options are eight new swim-up rooms with private pools, RIU added.
The hotel operator highlighted that public areas have been overhauled, with an airier, light-filled lobby and re-landscaped grounds, plus a reconfigured pool deck featuring six pools (with three with swim-up bars).
Dining has been broadened and renewed with both refurbished and fresh venues and concepts.

Guests can now choose between Asian, Mexican and Italian restaurants, a classic steakhouse, and two buffet restaurants with live cooking stations, alongside quick bites from two Pepe’s Food grills and two Tiki Taco stations.
A new ice-cream parlour, Candy, joins a 24-hour Sports Bar, with American-country theming, serving up à la carte favourites, drinks and snacks around the clock.
Families will find a refreshed RIU Land kids’ area and access to Splash Water World, along with RIU Party weekly themed events shared with neighbouring Riu Palace Costa Rica.

RIU said the refurbishment project underlines its long-term commitment to Costa Rica’s tourism economy and to delivering an upgraded all-inclusive experience at this Pacific-coast base.
