Top things to do at Disney World's Boardwalk Inn

3 min read

Disney World’s BoardWalk Inn is one of the most popular among the ‘deluxe’ hotels for many reasons - and the amenities and experiences on offer at the resort are certainly among them.

Besides the resort's iconic location, including its own nearby ‘boardwalk’ resort area complete with unique diners, delis and ice cream parlours as well as the proximity to Epcot, Boardwalk’s on-site facilities are very much those of a high-level resort.

Boardwalk Inn & Villas delivers turn-of-the-century Atlantic City vibes and a whole itinerary’s worth of fun.

Guests enjoy lively pools, scenic bike rides, family campfires and even classy piano bars.

Here, we take a closer look at some of the popular ‘top’ things to do at Disney World’s Boardwalk resort.

Pools, spas, and fitness

The centrepiece of Boardwalk’s water-based fun is the Luna Park Pool, nostalgically themed as a 1920s amusement park and complete with a feature water slide designed in the image of a vintage roller coaster.

The ‘Keister Coaster’ is a 200-foot-long slide. And it's a hit with kids and parents alike.

Adult guests also adore the relaxing nearby whirlpool spa. Alternatively, guests who fancy a nibble or a cocktail will be satisfied at the carousel-themed bar, Leaping Horse Libations.

Here, you can order a poolside sandwich, hot dog, pizza, or a ‘super food’ power bowl. The Leaping Horse also has a well stocked bar, and a drinks menu that includes to exclusive speciality cocktails - the The Roller Coaster Meltdown (coconut rum and dark rum flavoured with coconut and pineapple) and Spicy Watermelon Spritz (vodka, watermelon juice, jalapeño and lime topped with Sprite and a Chili-Lime Rim).

There are also two notably quieter ‘leisure pools’ on the Boardwalk Inn & Suites property, each tucked away in calm areas and each with its own whirlpool.

Guests looking to stretch or work up a sweat will find what they’re looking for at Boardwalk’s Muscles & Bustles Health Club.

The 24-hour gym is fitted out with modern equipment, including treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals, as well as free weights and resistance machines, plus it even has a sauna.

Games and activities

The Luna Park pool hosts games, contests, and trivia hosted by the recreation team.

Over at the Community Hall, guests will find all kinds of creative fun, including arts and crafts, board games, and even rainy-day movies.

Guests can also borrow gear for tennis or pickleball for the courts nearby.

Then there’s the Side Show Games Arcade, which has a mix of classic and modern video games, right next to the main pool area.

Guests can hire Surrey bikes (four-seater ‘buggy’ style bikes) and explore the resort area’s Cresent Lake. It is a popular way to spend time, cruising around the BoardWalk.

Bikes, jogging, and golf

On two legs, guests can enjoy the resort’s jogging trail - you're welcome to run or walk!

And, if you want to be active but want to do something uniquely Disney, check out Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf, just a short walk away.

It offers two 18-hole courses. One is a magical Fantasia-themed one perfect for kids, whilst the other, ‘Fantasia Fairways' is a more challenging, but still smaller, golf course - complete with bunkers, water hazards and sloping greens. The miniature course measures 60 feet par-3 holes, and around 110 feet par-5s.

The golf experience costs $19 per adult and $12 per child, before taxes.

Nighttime entertainment

Boardwalk Inn, like most Disney World hotels, organise evening campfires, complete with toasting marshmallows, and outdoor Disney movies on most nights.

It is a lovely, wholesome way to spend quality time with loved ones, and a ‘must-do’, at least once, for all Disney World guests.

The BoardWalk itself transforms into a lively promenade with street performers, carnival games, and food stalls. And, its location means there are great opportunities for very Instagrammable photos.

The Boardwalk area is also home to the Atlantic Dance Hall - a themed nightclub that includes an art deco ballroom and features stylish and retro vibes, including the music hits of the 80s and 90s.

Guests who prefer their nightlife with less dancing there’s AbracadaBar, a magic-themed lounge with illusion-inspired cocktails and atmosphere to match.

Thoughts …

Clearly BoardWalk Inn is more than just a pretty place to sleep.

There’s so much to experience, whether having a splashing good time with the family, sipping a drink by the pool, laughing along to a street performer, or pedalling a surrey bike at sunset, you’ll find lots to enjoy at your own pace at the resort.
