Walt Disney World guests will this fall enjoy a special version of the TRON rollercoaster, with a new 'overlay' set to transform the ride as new sequel 'Tron: Ares' hits the cinema.
The overlay replaces the ride's iconic familiar blue color scheme for vivid reds and oranges, and will be matched with a unique new soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails (as the band also provides the soundtrack to the TRON: Ares movie).
This overlay will be installed at both the Orlando and Shanghai Disneyland versions of the TRON coaster.
It will be a limited-time experience, launching on 15 September at Magic Kingdom (and 16 September in Shanghai).
TRON: Ares, the movie, releases into theatres on 10 October. It stars Jeff Bridges and Jared Leto (as Ares), and is directed by Joachim Rønning. Nine Inch Nails track “As Alive as You Need Me to Be” provides, part of the TRON: Ares soundtrack, has already been released.
Guests heading to Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland in the coming months have the opportunity for this alternative, limited-time experience of the popular TRON coaster (which is the fastest on Disney World property).
The TRON: Ares overlay was announced during the Walt Disney Studios showcase at the past weekend's Destination D23 event, which was held at Coronado Springs Resort.
