United Airlines is preparing to roll-out Starlink internet on its flights, on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The first systems will come online on customer flights in the coming weeks, after the airline received FAA certification for 'mainline' flights, United has announced.
Customers on some of United's regional flights, on Embraer 175 regional aircraft, have been able to access the service during flights since May.
Since that initial launch, Starlink internet has been added to more than half of United's regional fleet, and, the airline said it is adding it to roughly 50 regional aircraft each month.
Now its approved for longer-distance flights, onboard Boeing 737-800s, the high-speed internet service promises to enhance customer experience significantly.
"Customers are loving the Starlink experience onboard our regional aircraft, and our first Starlink-equipped mainline aircraft will bring a superior inflight experience to even more people," said Grant Milstead, United vice president of digital technology.
"We're working to install Starlink and offer game-changing inflight entertainment experiences like streaming services, shopping, gaming and more."
United said the high-speed in-flight internet service would be free to all its 'MileagePlus' customers (and its passenger's can sign-up to MileagePlus for free).
