Yorkshireman buys Jet2 CityBreak in a competition for just 8p!

Nothing beats ... buying a trip to Rome for 8p!

Jet2CityBreaks has announced that Yorkshireman Ken Smith, of Mirfield, did just that on its daily ‘Bid for a Break’ promotion. He won a three-night stay for two at the Room Mate Collection Gran Filippo after submitting the lowest unique bid via the Jet2 mobile app.

“I have been entering ‘Bid for a Break’ for quite a while; it’s a brilliant competition,” Smith said, adding that his 8p bid matched his wife’s birthday and became a “lucky number.”

Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy congratulated the winner and encouraged travellers to take part in the next rounds.

“We have three more fantastic holidays up for grabs until March 2026, so make sure you get involved and have a bid in mind for November’s auction,” Heapy said.

To enter, customers need to access the Jet2 app and make a bid in pennies; and the lowest bid that no other customer picks wins, and that is the price they will pay.

For guests, the draw is simple: a short city break or sunshine escape for the price of spare change, if the bid lands uniquely low.

Jet2 relaunched 'Bid for a Break' in May, and has run the promotion every other month since. The next bidding window is expected to open from 10 Monday until 17 November - followed by future rounds in January and March.
