Modelled on the grand National Park lodges of early 20th-century America, Wilderness Lodge is one of Walt Disney World's most distinctive resorts. The soaring timber-and-stone lobby sets the tone — think towering totem poles, a roaring fireplace and a genuine sense of the Pacific Northwest. It sits alongside Bay Lake, with pine forest trails and a creek running through the grounds, making it feel genuinely removed from the theme-park bustle. Accommodation ranges from standard rooms to two-bedroom cabins with private hot tubs and Bay Lake views, right up to three-bedroom Grand Villas sleeping 12. Two heated pools serve different moods: Copper Creek Springs has a 67-foot waterslide and spa, while Boulder Ridge Cove is quieter, with zero-depth entry. A character dining experience with Snow White adds a fun extra for families with younger kids.

Magical Disney Resort

Wonderful resort. The theming makes you feel like you are staying in a cozy, secluded cabin while somehow still being a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. Busses to the other 3 parks came quickly, I don't think I ever waited more than 5-10 minutes during my whole stay. Roaring fork is a great counter-service restaurant for classic Disney treats such as Mickey Waffles and cinnamon rolls, while the sit-down restaurant, Whispering Canyon, is a fun and unique experience offering various skillets of unlimited food for a reasonable price. The cast members working here, from the front desk to the gift shop, were exceptionally kind and helpful, as per usual. The rooms were spotless, the beds were very comfortable, and the noise level was minimal. The pool is expansive but the slide could be taller (that is truly my only issue with this hotel). I truly had a 10/10 experience staying at this resort and would gladly return!

Wilderness Lodge Lives Up to the Hype

I have to hand it to the management at this hotel. When the first room I was given had heating issues, the front desk staff moved quickly to get me an upgrade. Honestly, to call it an upgrade doesn't do it justice - they put me in a fireworks view room on the top floor with a spectacular view of Bay Lake, the cabins, Magic Kingdom, and the woods. It was totally unnecessary and 1000% appreciated. The resort has a very reliable quick service and a great store; the grounds are lovely to walk through, and the vibe is very chill. I prefer the upgrades in this resort to the ones that have been done in the Epcot area Deluxe resorts, and once the boat launch is repaired and back in order, this will be my go-to Magic Kingdom Resort.

Love this Spot

I think this is the best of the primary Disney resorts, even including the monorail connected ones (wilderness lodge is not on monorail, but has direct boat transport to magic kingdom). The theming is first rate. The lobby area is stunning and makes a great place to hang out. Main pool is really nice and the landscaping is great, and our youngans loved the kid splash pad area. We love the Whispering Canyon for breakfast. Great food (and plentiful)! The waterfront pub is also wonderful. A cool thing is you also get access to the DVC pool with your room key, and that pool is bigger, has more chairs, has a far bigger and hotter hot tub, and is overall a more chill atmosphere than the main hotel pool area (it’s not “adults only” but just organically more chill). We used the complimentary grill down by the basketball court and that was great, though some grills which were closer by the waterfront villas were inoperable. Loved how they had nice basketballs out to allow one to easily shoot hoops without trekking somewhere to ask for a ball. Fun activity area with bean bag toss, foosball table, etc. Nonstop boat transfer to Magic Kingdom was great. Beautiful, serene ride and never much wait. Route goes over the “water bridge” by the Contemporary Resort. This is where the boat actually travels in a canal over the road, so you can see cars/buses going down to travel underneath you as you float across the canal. Pretty cool! The boat captains have fun personalities too. The room itself is kinda meh. It’s nice enough, I’d say like a Marriott or Hilton. But they went the “understated” route in theming in the room and I personally could have gone for more. In room coffee machine worked well and they stocked it well with k cups. Decent size mini fridge but no freezer compartment. Definitely enjoyed the balcony overlooking the main pool area! Rain shower was too short. Granted I’m 6-6, but still it should have been higher in my view. There was ample airspace above the faucet pipe to make it taller if they only had wanted. Bed was reasonably comfortable, but I wasn’t blown away, either. Overall I’d class the room as highly functional, comfortable and spacious without being str8 up impressive. The balcony and view was the most impressive aspect which we loved. Parking out front was easy and walk in wasn’t too bad. Overall it’s the theming, the landscaping, and the natural beauty and abundance of spaces and activities that we really love and we look forward to returning. The easy connectivity to Magic Kingdom via beautiful boat ride is great too.

Holiday transformation....

Once again, in our exploration of the Disney resorts, decked out in their seasonal splendor; we prioritized visiting this location. Taking the monorail from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom; we then took the water transport option here. The magnificent Xmas tree in the lobby was again accented by the comfortable, rustic atmosphere of the surrounding architecture. We spent several hours strolling the grounds, sitting by the imposing stone fireplace, watching the ever changing passersby throughout; and once again, immersing in the multiple ways Disney interprets the holidays. There are numerous ways to experience the Disney "magic". We've become fans of what inspires the holiday transformation within the Disney bubble.

Just beautiful!!!

Absolutely beautiful! We had a great stay at WL with no complaints at all. We saw it decorated for Christmas and then after they took it all down still beautiful! We rode the boats and busses. The boats were so relaxing! No issues getting on busses at all. It has a nice giftshop and the Quick service restaurant Roaring Fork was good for breakfast and had good snacks too. Housekeeping did a great job each day! Our room had a great view of the lake where we could watch the electrical water parade and a partial view of the MK fireworks which was great! We LOVED our stay!
