Hard Rock Hotel Orlando has a great location, right near the Universal Orlando action, only a short stroll to CityWalk, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios parks.
Essentially, guests find themselves at the top of Universal's entertainment area, connected by a clearly marked, scenic walking path reaching CityWalk in about 5 minutes and the two main parks in roughly 6 to 8 minutes.
Hard Rock is a Premier hotel, with a premier price tag. It offers guests a bunch of perks - including Express Passes, underwater music in the pool, and an in-room Guitar Menu! - but perhaps its proximity to the parks is one of the top things that make the resort popular.
Of course, guests don't have to walk; there's also the shuttle bus service and a water taxi, even though the walk along the shaded footpath along the canal is usually the most pleasant and quickest option.
Water taxi and dock details
Hard Rock Hotel Orlando runs a complimentary water taxi between the dock outside the resort and CityWalk. It is a short and enjoyable ride that takes about 5 to 10 minutes, departing roughly every 15–30 minutes from early morning into the night.
The water taxi is a relaxed alternative to walking. But it's important to note that, at CityWalk, the boat drops guests on the far side of the bridge, so you may need an extra minute or two to reach each park entrance.
Security screening happens before boarding; allow time for that during busy periods.

Shuttle buses, rideshares and where they go
Hard Rock Hotel Orlando's complimentary shuttle buses connect the hotel to Volcano Bay (about a 5-minute trip) and to Epic Universe (around 15 minutes), and the hotel's shuttle is the usual Universal-provided option to Epic Universe.
Rideshare services (Uber/Lyft) pick up at the hotel entrance and are a practical backup if you miss a bus or are heading to destinations the hotel doesn't serve directly.
Early entry, Express access and avoiding queues
A great perk for guests staying at Hard Rock Hotel Orlando is that in many ways guests don't really need to rush into the parks.
Guests staying at the resort get Early Park Admission, typically one hour before general opening, and Express Pass Unlimited (for Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure parks, but not Epic Universe). The upshot is queue times can be significantly reduced, so guests don't need the stress of rushing and battling the crowds.
Guests can collect Express access on check-in day (some guests report being given passes during pre-check-in from early morning).
Also, many guests prefer - for the fastest entry to attractions - to use the walking path to the parks rather than waiting for a water taxi at peak times.
