One of Disney's most unique thrill rides is slated for an extended break, as it undergoes maintenance and renovation.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, at Disneyland Paris, will close on 4 January 2027 for its most extensive renovation since opening in 1993, the French park announced on Monday.
The closure is expected to last several months, it added. Teams from Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, along with design, delivery and maintenance staff, plan to rebuild parts of the temple's stonework and carry out structural maintenance on the track, including the rails and footbridges, Disney Parks said.
Guardrails and wooden and metal cladding will be replaced, and decorative elements will be removed and sent to the Central Workshops for full restoration. And the queue area's wooden walkways will be rebuilt, and the staircase decorations, campsite scenery and the attraction's 4x4 vehicle will also be restored.
Beyond the ride itself, the surrounding area is also expected to see new lighting, with scenic illumination planned around the attraction, as well as the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost shop, and the wider zone will be updated with new spotlights and modernised lighting effects.
Disneyland Paris said the work aims "to preserve this emblematic adventure and improve comfort for both guests and Cast Members."
As one of the French park's more unique attractions and areas, the upcoming update will be warmly welcomed by Disney parks fans in Paris as it signals commitment to the ride after a phase in which some older attractions have been replaced or rethemed. It also comes as Disney Parks in Florida is working towards a brand new and entirely different Indiana Jones attraction.
An anticipated reopening date for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril has not yet been announced.
