Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced the Minecraft World Hotel, opening at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in 2027 alongside the previously announced Minecraft World theme park land.
The hotel is expected to have 20 premium and 49 standard rooms across four floors, themed around the game's biomes, characters and mobs. It also includes an underwater-themed restaurant inspired by Minecraft's ocean biomes and a potions bar themed to the Woodland Mansion.
According to details provided by Merlin, the hotel's check-in areas will feature blocky trees and animals styled on the Overworld, while lifts are designed to resemble Nether Portals and corridors modelled on mine tunnels.
"Seeing the Minecraft World Hotel take shape alongside the attractions we are building at Chessington World of Adventures theme park is a Minecraft fans biggest dream," said Daisy Mercedes, Creative Producer at Merlin Entertainments.
In the update shared by Merlin, the British attractions company also added details about the Minecraft land's centrepiece ride, Escape the Nether, which it billed as the world's first Minecraft rollercoaster. The thrill ride promises an indoor high-speed section through dark mines as well as an outdoor section after guests burst through a Nether portal into an Overworld-themed area.
Minecraft World is a £50 million project and one of Merlin's largest theme park developments in recent years, the park operator highlighted in its announcement.
Popular with guests visiting the UK capital, Chessington World of Adventures is a 35-minute direct train from London Waterloo.
