American Airlines adds new European routes and destinations for 2027

American Airlines has announced it is adding seven new international routes and three destinations to its network in 2027, with popular European cities joining the board for the carrier.

It is adding flights to Porto (OPO), Reykjavik (KEF) and Vienna (VIE) from Philadelphia (PHL), as well as other flights to Amsterdam, Nice, and Barcelona.

Further afield, it also adds routes connecting to Asia.

All new summer routes will operate daily, and tickets will be available starting from Monday 31 August.

“All told, our international network has expanded to offer destinations to satisfy every travel palate,” said Brian Znotins, senior vice president of network and schedule planning.

Key launch dates include Chicago (ORD)–Tokyo Narita (NRT) on March 19 aboard a Boeing 787-9; New York JFK-Amsterdam (AMS) and a fourth daily JFK-London Heathrow (LHR) on March 28, the latter using a 787-9 with Flagship Suite® seats; JFK-Nice (NCE) on May 6 via A321XLR; and Charlotte (CLT)–Barcelona (BCN) on May 27 via Boeing 777-200ER.

Philadelphia routes to Porto and Vienna start March 28 and May 6 respectively, and PHL-Reykjavik begins May 27 on an Airbus A321neo, according to the airline.

The carrier also said it will extend seasonal service on CLT-Paris (CDG) and MIA-Milan (MXP) starting March 4, 2027.
