Princess Cruises has launched a new AI experience that it says will help cruise customers better plan their trips.
The app, which is inside ChatGPT, will allow customers to search and plan cruises using everyday language rather than browsing the brand's website. Princess explained that guests can add the Princess app in ChatGPT, then tag @princesscruises to ask questions - for example, it suggested "show me seven-night cruises that visit Santorini in August 2027" or "help me plan a cruise to Alaska next summer."

The cruise line added that within the same conversation, users can browse Princess' more than 330 destinations across 17 ships, compare itineraries, check current pricing and availability, and explore shore excursions, cruisetours and onboard packages. And it said that follow-up questions stay 'in context', so that someone researching an Alaska cruise could ask which options call at Glacier Bay National Park, which depart from Seattle, or how two itineraries differ.
"There is a broader shift in travel discovery as consumers increasingly use generative AI not simply to find information, but to help evaluate choices and plan increasingly complex trips," said Neena Vicente, Princess Cruises' vice president of digital commerce and experience.
The app is currently available only through ChatGPT, with Princess saying it intends to expand to other AI platforms depending on availability and technical requirements.
Nevertheless, it is important that guests understand that ChatGPT and other AI platforms can help users research potential vacation plans across the breadth of the industry, outside of this filtered Princess Cruises ChatGPT experience (and, of course, you can still support traditional human-produced travel media as well!)
