MSC Cruise Line has officially 'broken ground' on the Sandy Cay project, its new private island resort in the Bahamas, as construction continues ahead of the site's scheduled opening in 2028.
Sandy Cay sits next to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the line's existing private island, and was first announced in April.

It will be developed exclusively for guests sailing with MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, offering dining venues, relaxation areas and private retreats alongside beaches.
MSC, in an announcement, also gave details of upgrades to Ocean Cay, including additional dining venues, new beach concepts for families and adults, expanded relaxation areas and new marine conservation experiences.
With Sandy Cay's 2028 opening, MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests sailing Caribbean itineraries will have access to two separate private island destinations.
